We have decided to select the county level cities of Du Jiang Yan and Peng Zhou for the locations of our first two 'Schools of Orchestra'. The city of Jin Tang also impressed us much and will be retained as a choice for further openings in the next years.

Peng Zhou has been officially selected by the Board of Directors of Music for the Growing Mind as an official location for one 'School of Orchestra'. We congratulate the authorities for their commitment to the project and expect them to continue to support our program actively. We will work very hard in order for the Peng Zhou community - especially the children in difficult social and economic condition - to take full benefit from the Music for the Growing Mind activity. We are committed to give our full contribution to the social and institutional growth of the city that was so heavily affected by the quake
December 17, 2010 – Field Trip
Music for the Growing Mind met with local authorities in Peng Zhou on December 17, 2009. Present at that meeting were Mr. Li Guangping, Secretary General of Peng Zhou Municipal People's Government and Mr. Huang Shifa, Secretary of Party Committee, Education Department.
The presentation of the project was extremely well received, with our targets fully shared and the methods proposed enthusiastically appreciated by the representatives of the local government.
We were invited to visit two sites as possible venues for Music for the Growing Mind. Both conveniently located in the center of the city the two venues – the first formerly a primary school and the second a kindergarten – are both terrific locations for Music for the Growing Mind’s activities.
We were also taken to two primary schools. The buildings and activities there were impressive, as was the enthusiastic welcome received by the students and the school’s management.
Peng Zhou leaders fully acknowledge and appreciate the long term
character of the project and understand fully the gradual but
unquestionable benefits that Music for the Growing Mind can bring to the
growth of the children and the
community as a whole.
