We have decided to select the county level cities of Du Jiang Yan and Peng Zhou for the locations of our first two 'Schools of Orchestra'. The city of Jin Tang also impressed us much and will be retained as a choice for further openings in the next years.

Jin Tang is a county east of Cheng Du. Located approximately 28 kilometers away from downtown Chengdu, the county covers an area of 1154 square kilometers and has a population of approximately 870,000. Translated, Jin Tang means “golden (jin) room (tang)”.
Recent discoveries revealed that the JinTang county was an important center during the Shu Kingdom. The Kingdom of Shu, or Shu Han, was one of the three kingdoms competing for control of China after the end of the Han Dynasty. It lasted from 221 to 263 A.D.

Although we remain very impressed by the work made in Jin Tang in establishing music communities within primary schools we have decided to postpone our activity in the city. We will, however, remain in constant contact with authorities in Jin Tang, updating them on the next steps that will prelude to the opening of the third Music for the Growing Mind School of Orchestra in their county in the next few years. We congratulate the authorities for their constant work to improve conditions of citizens in the county.
December 16, 2010 – Field Trip
Music for the Growing Mind presented the project to local authorities in JinTang on December 16, 2009. Present at the meeting was Mr. Yin Jianhong, Head of Department of Cultural Affairs.
After a successful visit to the city’s First Experimental Primary School, during which the impressive artistic talents of some of the students were shown, discussions with authorities centered around the possible impact of Music for the Growing Mind on the city. The Government of JinTang appreciated very much the fact that we were considering the city as a possible location for a School of Orchestra and we deemed to stay in touch as regards the commitments we require from them, stated in the 'pact’.
